In a major scoop, the World President of the Divine Life Society, His Holiness Sri Swami Vimalananda will make an inaugural trip to Phoenix, on October 1 to unveil a Sivananda Peace Pillar, donated by Richards bay entrepreneur and humanitarian, Ishwar Ramlutchman .

Expected to attend this event at the Shree Ganesha Temple, in Palmview Drive, Palmview, Phoenix, are KwaZulu Natal Premier, Zweli Mkhize, King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuZulu and Inkatha Freedom Party leader, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi among others.

This will be Swami Vimalamamda’s second visit to South Africa since 2006, and Ramlutchman said he was delighted that Swamiji had agreed to grace the function. Said Ramlutchman: “The unveiling of the 4 ton granite pillar which stands 3,5m high and is inscribed with prayers from the world’s major religions will be a historic event for the country.

He said the pillars in Phoenix and Empangeni, which have been erected, along with six others in the pipeline in various parts of the country, was a tribute to Swami Sivananda, founder of the Divine Life Society Worldwide and his disciple Swami Sahajananda. In letters dated August 6 this year and last week respectively, Swami Vimalananda, and His Holiness Dalai Lama of Tibet, praised Ramlutchman for the fantastic initiative. Swami Vimalananda remarked that the noble deed would bring glory to Swamis Sivananda and Sahajananda and would help promote peace and stability in South Africa.
